Default high compression 5.3 plug gap

Well Im finally getting my setup dialed in it was runnin like **** with stock plugs at stock gap. Ive added a lower t stat and switched over to tr6's and runnin .50 gap made an enormous difference the motor sounds alot better less valve train noise and feels stronger doesnt seem to be pulling as much timing either. I was having problems with hot starts and dieing when suddenly letting off the gas or turning the wheel all the way over.

Im going to run this gap for a couple of days then Im going to regap to .45 then .40 and check conditions of plugs. The ones that came out had signs of heat and detonation redish white tint the straps were still intact though and ceramic looked ok.

Next time I go to the dyno Im gonna run 110 and crank up timing to see what I can get out of it.

I think I should be able to get away with tr6's once I find the best gap. Im thinking of going with 7 or 8's when I get to finally installing my nitrous setup. Its good to be finally gettin somewhere.

thought this might help some of yall out there runnin milled heads.

Do you have any port work done? Mine are milled off too with 5 angle and balanced. I tried TR6's before at stock gap really did not notice a diiff. Interesting.

I put some Bosch platinum +4 ( expensive ones ) in the stroker motor and it knocked like crazy. Installed some std Champion plugs at 0.040" gap and made a huge difference til the tuning got better. I tried the Bosch again recently and it ran better.

I run the stock gap. Same here on porting cost. I really like the thorley's would def. buy them if I did it all over again. Did you try running the TR6's at .040-.045?
