Default Hey! Those thinkin of building an engine....

Check out the new copy of GM High Tech Performance magazine and look at the new block called the LSX.

Enginnered with considerable input from WJ it will feature 4.25 bore x 4.5 stroke capability. My calculator says that's over 636 ci (WRONG! I's only 510 ci from a small block) .... in a small block. Everything we are now running will bolt up... EVERYTHING. It's good for 2000 to 2500 hp. Will sell for about $1800 on the street and will be available in the spring.

Hmm. I thought it was bore x bore x stroke x .7854. What am I doing wrong?

And yes it might be my geezerness is showing

EDIT

Yep. It was my geezerness. I forgot to multiply the above times the number of cylinders.

.7854 x bore x bore x stroke x # of cylinders

Ever since I got this truck and came to this site I've wished like hell I had somebody around my town that knew something about these high tech Gen III engines. I've been all on my own in my total ignorance with only my old-school hot rodding buddies from the 60's to help me.

Your link led me to Robin L who I met this summer but at that time he had a Mustang and I didn't really talk that much with him.. him being a Ford guy and all.

Seems he's now running a Nova and is VERY knowledgeable about high tech tuning and GenIII engines. I"M SAVED.. from my ignorance. What a relief to know that I know somebody that has REAL knowledge the GM High Tech Performance stuff.

if you want to get technical it's 3.14x1/2 bore^2 x stroke plus cumbustion chamber on the head x # cyls

so that would be 510.44625 w/o any head displacement
