the wait is really tuff, i just got the bigger turbo on there but i didn't get to see any numbers before i broke the tranny. i really want to hit the dyno and see how the pt88 effects things. it is going to be able to hold the boost in the higher rpms so my hp numbers will probably go way up.
what did they find in the motor? what did they change. c'mon give us some inside info.

jim, come pull the sled at our county fair and make all the hillbillies scratch their heads and say,"what tha ****?"!!!!!!!!
there's no doubt in my mind that you'd kill every other half ton and beat a lot of the diesels too.

F&A, I was at the truck pull last nite and they had stock gas and stock diesel classes...thought the same thing, turbo in the gas class would be great. Saw some stock boys break some parts, a big hopped up f350 threw a drive shaft, that was great, the Duramax's took 1 and 2 positions...more then one guy was running propane injection, everyone in the stands was like, man that smells like propane....so much for stock trucks, but oh well, good show!

i think the bigger turbo and meth will make up for the heat

cmotorsports found a few things they didn't like and are making it right. sam spec'd out those pistons and they were eating up the 2nd rings prety fast. sam has a former JE expert working there now and together they came up with some new piston specs that we are going to try. i also had a head gasket that was blown out(he sent me pics), i didn't know it was blown. he is fixing that up. the finish was coming off my lifters so he found a better set of those.

he also welded in a new WG for me and a -10 fitting for my return line in the oil pan.

the last thing was the heads, he said one of the valves was leaking a little, i dont have money for killer heads right now so he just did a basic clean up job on them. we talked about heads and it looks like over the winter some all pro's with the orings will be going on. i might have some problems keeping the heads down with big power till i get those units on. from what i am reading the big power guys are changing their head gaskets prety regulurly.

i see a common practive for the guys living on the edge is to monitor their coolant PRESURE. once you see a spike in presure you are lifting the head and you might have time to back out of it before you spit it out. i think i will try that if i am eating up head gaskets.

by the sound of it he must have been thinking of something being wrong with it when he asked you to pull it out. it's good that you're gettng some R&D done for them though.

i am one of the first guys to push one of their ls1's hard and for a extended period, he just wanted to see what it looked like.

i really dont know how much time you can expect out of a built motor that is being pushed hard. with all the street/dyno/track stuff i do i probably have the equlivent of 2-3+ seasons of wear compared to a track only car. i had about 8,000 miles on it and it was running harder than ever. there was not a day that went by that i didn't do at least a couple of 0-100 wot blasts and some days when i was tuning i might do 20 runs in a 2 hour period. i am not suprized the motor was showing some signs of wear.

from talking to sam it sounds like i may be near the limit of reliable head sealing, changing head gaskets isn't too hard but it isn't something i want to do every month either.

i just talked to chuck at finishlinetransmision, he said my tranny should go out on monday. chuck is a fun guy to deal with. he seems about as excited about my truck as i am. he wants me to go out and thrash on the tranny and see what the next weak link is. he is all about the R&D, lets break it so we can make it better . chuck asked where i was headed with this thing, i told him eventualy twin 76's and 1500rwhp , he liked that and said he would just keep on working with me and making that tranny take the power. chuck want to see it run 9's as much as me.

the thing that makes this project so much fun is that there is no end in sight, i dont want to "finish" it ever, it is the project that i enjoy more than anything. i see having this truck for a couple more years at least. untill i hit a hp or et wall i will continue to build it and make it quicker(as money allows)

My TEA heads have SS o-rings around the chamber, they told me to run stock MLS head gaskets with the o-ringed heads.TEA runs a similar setup on his Vette with good results.O-ringing your heads might provide a cheap fix to your head gasket sealing problems.
