Default Help w/ slippage problem!!!!

So i have a 00' GMC 5.3 w/ 80K when I go around a corner and get on the gas 2/3 throttle+ the motor winds up but the wheels aren't spinning, no wierd noise's, nothing to lead me to think something's broke?? I am guessing that the tranny clutches 1-2 are slipping but need some one with more knowlegde on this specific topic... HELP!!!! BTW this is a 4wd truck.

Thanks

D

My guess is it's the band slipping. How does the 1-2 shift feel? What about OD ... is it slipping any too?

It shifts a little slow and not quite as firm either right now and the OD shift a couple of months ago was doing the same thing and is now back to normal. I was alos wondering if it is worth just rebuilding or getting an already bulit one(used)

Check the fluid .. that would have been the first thing I did.

I would do either or ... get that one built, use the proseiries band that Raybestos has and the Blue plate special clutches for the 3/4 clutch pack. The rest you can use stock type clutches. I would put a shift kit and some heavier servos in there while you got everything tore down.

I would love to tear everyting down but would also be doing it all myself so the turn around would be quite high and this is my DD so that my not work out to well unless my GTO get's 20 mpg!! I will bring it into the local dealership and have the tranny flushed along with the coolant system(80K it's about time) and see where that get's me!! Other wise I was going to get a 4L60E package with the OD and 1-2,&2-3 servos and the 3/4 Raybestos Blue Clutches pack from the transmission store. I wanted the shift kit but do alot of towing and the shift kit would hurt me more then help I think.

Shift kit would help a lot ... just install it conservativly and don't use tow/haul mode in stop and go traffic, or until youget out of 1st at least. You should also get the biggest damn tranny cooler you could find too.

When you get it flushed .. put TypeF in there and get DuraLube additive. That might breath some more life into it, but don't hold your breath on it.

it's really no tthat bad just for a second or two is slips. I was thinking of a LQ9 6.0l while I have the tranny out, what year do the 6.0L have to be in order to use the 4L6E0 tranny?

2000 and up I believe.

If it isn't that bad, you might could install a shift kit and servos and have the problem gone. If you do that, it would be better when you rebuild the tranny anyways.
