OK working on getting the the stock rockers back on. The pushrods that came with the kit are 7.25", should I use those or the stock ones?

The backfires were through the tailpipe.

Stock rockers and pushrods are back in, haven't attached coil packs yet but when I turn it over it sounds like a normal car trying to start, doesn't sound like starter is spinning freely. It became noticeably harder to spin the motor with a wrench after I took the other rockers off. I will report back in a few once I get the coil packs and plug wires re-attached. I'm optimistic now.

post # 19 marc w had a similar problem it sounds like. I would say they are probably too tight and youre not building compression (and you said its easy to turn over by hand, it should get pretty difficult if you have compression)

I would just try the adj procedure again, making sure that you adjust initial lash finger tight and wait 5-10 min between 1/4 turns again, just to be sure those lifters are bled down (if you've done it already, I'm not sure if you'll really need to wait so long, but I would wait a few minutes between passes to be sure)

I'm sure you've read this, but if not, this is the latest adjustment procedure for the rockers - http://www.vincihighperformance.com/...TRUCTIONS.HTML

I've heard it usually takes a few tries to get these things setup right. I lucked out on my install I guess, but followed those directions 'to a T'

good luck with it

IT'S ALIVE!!!! MUAHAHAHAHAH

I will try and sort out the rocker install later this week. For now it should be fine with the stock rockers and pushrods.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

03GMC that's a good post, I will look into it again this week. I'm tired of working on the truck for now, 19 hours yesterday and another 3 this morning. Thanks for the info.
