Default Help! Need More Mileage

Last night I was looking thru records, and I've spent
200 bux on gas in the past 3-weeks.
We are not hi-mile drivers. My Y2K Suburban
and 2001 rcsb both have 5.3's and 2wd.
Anyone got any suggestions?

They're both stock. The Sub has a K&N Filter, and the
Silverado has a K&N FIPK w/ the plastic tube.
Thanks for your help guys

Default What Are The MPG Numbers?

You need to calculate your numbers and post them.

I spend $50 a tank on my 4.3 and it's filled once a week and I barely travel...
Gas is insane now...

I'm only using medium grade though...

tb spacer,e-fans,and a good exhaust mufflers like a 22 or 24 inch magnaflow.
these 3 things will make a noticable difference.don't know how much you are looking to spend but also under drive pulley, headers and a nide tune.

Thanks for the replies

The Suburban gets about 13-14mpg(sometimes 12), and the truck only gets about 15-16mpg.

Hey 4.8T, I already have a Honda......it's stuck in the 'Burb's treads

Custom tune and electric fans should get you most of your max possible MPG. Of course if you calculate how much you spend on that stuff or any of these mods for that matter, you'll find that you'll have to drive a couple of million miles before you come out ahead of the game

Though you should look at it in two different perspectives.
He may spend a little bit of extra money, but he will gain more MPG and gain more HP/ TQ at the same time. Which will make him feel that his money was well spent and not wasted. Agreed?

Maybe I'm way off with this, but I think a 2 mpg increase would be a realistic goal. Taking the average mpg of the suburban to be 13.5, and the truck to be 15.5,

2/13.5=14.8% increase in miles per gallon.
2/15.5=12.9% increase in mpg.

For the sake of argument, lets say each vehicle is driven an equal amount.
this would be a 13.85% average increase. (you math guys are welcome to correct me if I'm wrong here)

Theoretically, shouldn't that mean a reduction of $13.85 for every $100
dollars spent at the pump?
