Hello everyone, this is my 1st post sence I found this great site!

I have a 2003 Silverado with a small problem (I think).
It has to do with the chime. You know how when you turn the key to on and the chime starts to bong about 5 or 6 times and after you start the engine it bongs another 5 or 6 times? Well mine some times bongs a few time and then has a second or 2 delay and chimes/bongs again like it skips a bong. It only does this once a week or so. I know the chime is connected to the raido and I had trouble with my raido and got a new one under warranty but the chime is still skipping. Is this normal? The dealer said it might be a the body controll moduall acting up. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

 

Hey skag, although I don't know the answer, my suggestion would be to give it back to the dealer and let them worry about it. Thats what they get paid to do. Hell I am a technician and I can't believe I am saying that

 

I just hook my seatbelt before I start the engine. Seems to work for me.

Mudz5.3 as a tech could you find out if the truck is supposed to chime 5 times or 6 times. Mine, when it does not skip will chime 5 times sometimes and sometimes 6 in the same exact circumstances??? Is this normal? Heak if this it the only thing my truck does wrong I guess I have a good truck and I should not worry about it! Thanks!

 

Hey skag, although I am not a GM tech I went to my truck and considering it beeps fast with the key in the ign and once its started it beeps slow 5 times. Kinda hard to count considering the fast then slow chimes. I wouldn't worry about it too much but if it gets worse or you can't stand it anymore I would have the dealer fix it. Hope this helps
