If you don't plan on doing any other mods (such as heads or displacement change), why not go custom grind? I think my next cam with be a custom grind.

Thats what i want! lol. Im thinking of running the 220 and a 3200 stall. To meet my goals. Then add a set of 243s down the road. Gotta find someone close to me that can tune it though to get those numbers.

Thinking either the 220 and 3200 stall

or 224 and 3600 stall

Not having luck finding any good used ones though. Trying to budget build this one since its my first.

go 230's duration...i ran a 236/238 .615ish lift on a 112lsa in my 5.3 with a 4000verter and got 20+mpg...drove like stock around town just sounded badass...

my suggestion:
Long Tube Headers
232/236 .600/600 112LSA
Patriot Gold or Lunati Double springs
Trick Flow 7.400 pushrods(assuming your heads aren't milled)
either a yank or Circle D 3800 verter
and a good tuner

You would probably make in the neighborhood of 380-400rwhp and be an awesome driver

Thanks alot.

I already have longtubes so thats done.
Im worried if i ran that setup how the tranny would handle it. Also it mayb be a few months before i have a locker.

Also do not have a good tuner i know of. May have to end up with a mail order.

yeah a good tuner is a very important part of a setup like i posted...if you're going to go the mail order route, then yeah, i'd prolly go with something tried and true like the the 220 or 224...

and yes, your trans will hate you in no time lol

Which is why i want the mild setup of a 22x cam. Try to prolong me buying a tranny for a little longer. And also easier to tune. Then if i ever find a tuner down the road add a bigger cam and some heads.

what are your thoughts on this cam?
Comp Cam. 224/228 .533/.538 113+4 LSA

i'd like to see a little more lift personally, but it'll prolly get the job done

for comparisson, a buddy of mine put a cam with that duration, but with i think .581 lift in a 5.3 and it runs awesome!

sounds like you go it figured out bro! keep us posted

Heres what im thinking.

Comp Cam. 224/228 .533/.538 113+4 LSA
3600 stall
7.4 rods and yellow ls6 springs
8.1 injectors.

Only thing i would really want to change would be the cam to a better suggested one for the rest of those mods.
