Question Help Me Decide (cam)

I have been collecting parts for a year now and it is time for the last step, before the installation starts!

What cam do you all think I should go with? I am looking for great street/strip use with an aggressive lope! I would like the power to be in the 2000rpm to 6500rpm range. Please keep in mind that the truck is a 5.3L, full bolt-on, T56, w/ 4.56s gears! I run 28" & 29" tires depending on if it is street or track. I will be using Allen for a mail order tune and then either doing the fine tuning myself or I am going with a local dyno tune. You can (click here) for the bolt-ons I have now.

Parts ready to go on/in with cam choice:
LS6 Intake
97/98 Corvette Fuel Rail / Regulator
LS1 Throttle Cable Bracket
28.8 Injectors
LS6 Intake Bolts
ARP Crank Bolt
LS2 Timing Chain
LS7 Lifters
Comp Cam Hardened Pushrods
GM Head Bolts
LS1 Style Injector Connectors
LS6 Intake Gaskets
GM 5.3L Head Gaskets
5.3L Heads w/ 3 Angle Valve Job, Corvette 2.00 Intake & 1.55 Exhaust Valves, Milled .030, Valve Springs .600
Katech Rod Bolts
Lingenfelter Performance Oil Pump
LS1 Water Pump w/ Truck Pulley
Fabricated Idle Pulley Relocation Bracket
618Hawk's Crank Dampener Installation Tool

how come you need two different sets of rod bolts?

i would think the smarter ones would suggest something like a 226/226 on a 112...

Oops! Edited the first one out!

I am thinking 226 on a 112 or the 228R on a 112!

I can't comment on the cam, but I was wondering why do you want to mess with 28.8# injectors and have to use adaptors? I would think those would be on the small side for your setup and it would be much easier to get some 8.1L injectors (31#). They are a direct plug and play.

228R is what i was thinkin for an off the shelf grind. Then I read you already thinking that. Would be a great cam in that T56 with all that gear.

Another cam i dont think ive seen run in a 5.3l but might work well would be the comp 226/230.

If I might sugest tho with the heads only being milled .30, what comp will that get you? lower 10? Cams this big I would try to squeeze as close to 10.5 as I could. Will only help you.

i'm pretty sure he's going with the 28's b/c they are plug n play with the ls6 intake and vette fuel rail
he'll be fine with the 28.8 #. i'm at low 80% IDC with my setup.

truess, i'd have to say the 228R also.

228R on a 112 would be a good choice, but with a truck being heavier than the typical car i'm thinkin torque. something like a 224/228 .600/.598 110LSA +2.

with the t56 you throw out all thoughs of how to pick cams with the auto. he can leave alot higher in the RPM range for launching, he has more mulitplication for torque with 4 drive gears then 3.

stock 28s wont be enough to be honest. look at a set of svo 30s for yoru combo since you will have heads, cam and intake
