Exclamation Help Electric Fans!

I got the LS1 fans and I also got a wiring harness from Derek and hooked everthing just like the instructions said. I put the main harness to the Hot on fuse box post, grounded the ground harness, I put the AC wire to the green (dark green because theres 3 of em balstards)AC wire and the wire for the computer into pin 42 on the blue terminal and nothing even after turning on the AC and letting the truck run past a lil hot. I then took the wire that is tapped into the AC, unhooked it and ran it directly to a the hot post on the fuse box and the fan only on the passenger side kicked on. I then switched the plugs for the fans and did the same thing and the fan only on the driverside kicked on so my fans aint broke. If there is a problem lets say with the way I put the pin into the back of the computer how can I test that, can I take that wire and put it to a hot source? and did I tap into the wrong green AC wire?

Sounds like you may have grabbed the wrong green wire for the a/c trigger (IIRC, it's green with a white stripe), and I'm going to bet that your blue 42 pin is not seated all the way into the connector. It's a bitch to seat completely. I had to use a small paperclip and jam it in the hole to push the pin all the way in.

I did tap the wrong wire for the AC, but is there a way to test whether there is a problem with the wire that goes to the computer, can I take that wire out of the back of the computer harness and run it to a hot?...If I cant get this fixed is there a way to run a temporary manuel switch..thanks

The blue 42 pin grounds out to turn the fans on...if you pull it from the connector, put it to ground and the fans should start up.

Undoing the pin from the computer harness now, doesnt look like any damage to the pin, once I get the comptuer harness back on ill try running the wire to a ground..give me few

Walla, I grounded that wire thats supposed to go to the computer and now both fans come on! The pin connector on the end of that wire looked to be in good condition and was seated properly inot the computer harness. That wire is supposed to go into pin 42 on the blue (J1) harness correct? Ill have to double check with my tune to make sure that pin is active as well I guess

make sure he used the correct settings in the tune, I can't remember off the top of my head, but I think the correct setting is "aux fans", not "2 fans".... it will work with the correct setting, but not with the other. The other possibility is that the pin wasn't seated as well as you thought, by supplying ground and it working that means that the harness is correct.

Everything is working as should, I just didnt let it get hot enough, he raised the kick on temp a little hotter because here in Fla it would be on all the time. How does the AC wire work, is that supposed to automaticly kick a fan on when the AC is turned on, I know the harness AC wire is good because when i put it to a hot it kicks one fan on. I tried tapping the green wire and also the green wire with the white stripe from the truck (the harness next to the alternator) and the fan doesnt kick on automaticly when i turn the AC on?
