Default Headers and High flow converters!!

Hey guys, I'm considering buying headers and cats for my 02 ext silverado with 5.3L, but i have been looking at dynatech header system and i feel its way too much, yes i know its awesome but i have think about other options for performance at a budget, im sure you guy know what i'm talking about!!
Anyway, i did find out that i can get edelbrock shorty style header for around $275.00 and a magnaflow cat kit with y-pipe for about $575.00. Both of these products combine can get seriouse horsepower and torque! I would spend $850.00 than spend $1350.00 when your on a budget for performance.
And one more thing, has anyone bought any of these products? If so let me know

I have shorty headers, and I am wishing for Dynatechs. Your stock cats flow fine, it is the long tubes of a true header which scavange fuel and increase Tq/Hp.
You can get cheaper headers, the nice thing about the dynatech set up is that it's a direct fit replacement for your stock manifold, cats and y-pipe, just bolt it on.

Forget the shorties, I run 'em because i didn't know better at the time and now i'm too broke. Also in CA. long tubes are illegal.

Don't waste your time on shorties!!! Get mids or long tubes if possible!! The Dynatechs r awsome!! The cats flow 400cfm's(395 to be correct). You will enjoy them!

Man, and I was about to recommend just that!
I always heard stock cats flowed well, you telling me I'm gonna have to dish out another 160+ for a new set of cats?

why dont you just gut your cats instead of spending an extra 160 on high flows.

StainlessWorks is supposed to be working on getting their lt's with catted y-pipe to fit the 99-02's...they're really close. Mine fit great except for the pass side where one of the primary tubes is on the frame. I sent them my Gibson shortie so they can take measurements for the EGR provision, and Al told me that they're gonna have a 99-02 truck in their shop in the next few weeks to see if they can work out the pass side clearance issue. If you do a search for "StainlessWorks" you'll probably find a few threads I started with some pics of my recent install.

ASM's are $850 and are long tub, watch e-bay and from time to time they pop up on here for 4-500. Shorties aren't worth the money, LQ9 manifolds (no egr or air) flow almost as well as shorties.
