Default Headers?!?!?!?

I have got a 4.8 rcsb truck. I am getting a cam, and I want some headers to go with it. Can you guys tell me whether I need shorty's or long tubes. Will shortys flow enough or do the stock manifolds flow just as good as them. I am looking at pacesetters longtubes with the 1 3/4 tubes. If i get them, do I HAVE to buy the off road ypipe or can I just weld up the tubes???
Thanks
Brian

I'd recommend long tubes, the shorties aren't really worth the cash for the minimal gains IMO. I have shorties myself that I'll be dumping for some StainlessWorks lt's in the near future.

Not sure if the PaceSetters can be adapted to the factory y-pipe or not...I'm sure that one of the guys who've installed them will be able to chime in and help you out with that one.

your probably better off the the pacesetters lt's for the price.

as far as the stock y-pipe goes... you could probably get a muffler shop redo your y pipe reusing your stock cats... im guessing you need cats, thats why you want the stock y pipe.

shorties look cool.. thats about it lol

spend a few hundred more and get LT's. I think most shorties are good for only like 4-6hp if that? LT's will help the cam better and make anywhere from 15-27hp

goodluck and check the sales section for deals on LT's..

well thats what i figured. Thanks guys. I will just have to find some LTs. You dont see many in the classified section, I guess there is a reason for that, huh.

thanks
