Yep, I would get the mid or long tube headers. I have the AS&M headers on order from Tbyrne and should be arriving next week. Hamm headers are another popular one to get. But I guess it depends on how much you want to pay for them. The shorties are cheaper than the mid and long tubes. You should also consider the quality of the headers because you get what you pay for.

BTW, Fast4.8, how do your headers look now? Do they still look like your pics?

Fast4.8,

I'm impressed! But I feel kinda lazy about doing the install myself. Gotta psyche myself out...maybe a few <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

What kind of gains gain a person expect to see out of a set of short tubes and long tubes? Are they worth the money?

I got mine the other day, custom headers from Lapole with 3" collectors on them. They are real nice quality, I like them. See how they run soon.

Get mid or long tube headers. Iv'e heard from people and have also seen dynos of short tube headers like JBA and Gibson, Edelbrock, and Borla and they don't give near the gains of mid or long tube headers. Arizona Speed Marine headers are my favorite (not that I have them, but I will when I get the $). You can get those at Tbyrne Motorsports - check the sponsors to the right for their website and look under GM truck products/ exhaust. There are also mid length headers, which cost about the same as long tubes. Some of those are Dean Lapole (? not sure if that is the correct name, but its something like that) and also The Other Guys headers, you can find those on Tbyrne's website too.

MHLY01 : how long did it take for the custom headers to be done Are they long tubes ?
how much did he charge you ?
are they coated ?
why did you get them done with a 3" collector
are you running a supercharger ?
how larger are the primary tubes ?
I'm considering getttin a set done for my truck
I'm running a procharger supercharger on my 2002 sierra
Let me know how they work out for you and maybe some dyno results if you have them
thanks again

jim

The cost was extra $75 for it.

They are completely coated.

They are Mid Lengh headers, I did not want to wit for ASM Headers.

3" collectors matched better with the dual 2.75" exhaust all the way back.

They have 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 primaries., I forget completely.

Only took about 3 weeks to get them.

I am gonna be running a big ATI charger as well along with head and cam. The bigger primaries will help. Waiting for the ATI to show up so I can install it. Should be fun. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
