guess imma just order the resonator as a precaution, I don't think it'll bother me if it ends up on the quieter side..

An 18" bullet in front of whatever muffler youre tunning really knocks the volume out. Cheap too.

Not this weekend but the next. I'm gonna have to redo the entire exhaust to adapt to them too... so that'll be fun... I see more v bands in my future.

I had headers, magnaflow spun cats and magnaflows largest muffler and it sounded great. Not loud at all. It was all 2.5" though. I think even 3" wouldn't be too bad as long as it was a full exhaust with full length tailpipes.

V-bands, I have these, really nice with the male/female design.

In most instances the larger the exhaust diameter, the quieter it will be due to less restrictions. Restrictions and excess friction created by non-mandrel bent pipe is what makes an exhaust so loud. Prime example is these people that buy a new truck, take it to the local exhaust shop and have a dual exhaust put on it not specifying what size they want or anything. They end up getting a dual 2" exhaust with all those crimped bends and it ends up being disgustingly noisy.

The exact opposite is true in my experience. My 4" setup is way louder than a 3" setup with similar mufflers.

Similar mufflers isn't exact. Certain variables can have an affect but I build/work on very high HP drag cars for a living and in all experiences the larger the pipe diameter, the more mellow toned the sound but there are exceptions based on certain aspects like amount of bends, etc, etc.

Bigger diameter is louder. Dual is louder than single. This is become slowing down the exhaust gases is what makes it quieter.

2.5 dual or 3.5 single is all that is really needed for most people's trucks. I think many are tempted to run 3 dual. It seems stupid to go down in size compared to all the aftermarket offerings but .... My G8 GXP had 2.25 dual stock and made over 400 hp.

I ran 3" dual but only cause my headers and connection pipe were already 3" and I didn't want to run a reducer. Would have saved money on pipe, easier to work with, easier to clear over the axle in SUV.
