Get ready for a lot of guys telling you to ditch the Superchips and get a custom tune from one of our sponsors such as BlackBear, Wheatley, or Nelson. The custom tunes are night and day better than the handhelds

If you want a little more bottom end, I don't think shorties are going to do it for you. The stock manifolds are about equal to a set of shorties. I say get LT's (this may cause a slight drop in low end TQ) and have a shop fab you a set of 2.5 or 2.75 (factory diameter) intermediate pipes (this will get your low end back for you and give you more top end HP because of the LTs. The wider you go, the less back pressure you will have, and inherently, less low end TQ.

I ran doug thorley lt headers for 5 years and had zero problems out of them. Great headers and at the time was the same price as shorties(haven't priced them in many years).

No mod I've done yet has yielded increased bottom end. 4.10 gears didn't increase bottom end per se, it simply gets you up in RPMs quicker where the motor makes a tad more power. Headers don't increase bottom end in my experience, cats or no cats. Honestly, the only way to really increase your bottom end is either more displacement or boost. There's a vast array of opinions and experiences here as to whether or not a cam swap will yield gains around 2000 rpms.
