Default Header questions...

Allright, I know long tube headers are better performance wise, but how big of a difference does long tube make compared to shortys?

I'd say you can expect somewhere between 15-20 rear wheel from the long tubes as compared to say 8-12 (12 prob. being with much luck!) out of a set of good shorty's. It's pretty much a "you get what you pay for" situation. Does this sound about right??? I saw a dyno test on the Edelbrock shorties where they picked up 8hp rear wheel from a set of shorties, so I would think that would be closer to the NORM for short tubes.

LTs increase bottom end torque quite a bit also. Shorty headers seem to gain from the mid RPMs to the upper RPMs, LTs give all the top end increase with lots of bottom end gains.

I believe it's due to scavenging...
