Default Header/Exhaust setup ?????'s

Yes, I know there are a ton of these each day, but I have a bunch of questions.

I had all this time been planning on LT Headers, a catted y-pipe or mid-pipes, I WANT to runt cats. And then true duals with the x-pipe and dual cutouts and dual magnaflows. The catted pipes were to be flanged for easy removal of the tranny. Well, with all this talk recently about true-duals compared to single 3", its made me re-think my position and start thinking about doing a single exhaust. Right now, I'm just running stock exhaust except for a single in/dual out magnaflow muffler dumped. It would be much easier and cheaper for me to do a single exhaust, but I'm not really concerned with cost. Time is an issue with me, so the single is looking better.

My main concern is performance, and realistically sound is a major issue. I will still install a cutout, but I'm wanting the best performance out of my exhaust. Setup will most likely be Pacesetter longtubes, with catted y-pipe, cutout, and single magnaflow.

Anybody have any real numbers or experience about single 3" compared to true duals? I will not be running forced induction, truck will stay N/A 5.3 looking at an MTI C1 Hammer Cam, full bolt-ons, eventually heads. Trying to get this truck to the ECSB 5.3 N/A title. If I can get by with just a single 3" that would be great, but I don't want to cut corners if its going to cost me times.

check out blue cajuns times. 2nd fastest na 5.3 out there and its 2nd by just a hair... single 3". im the only ecsb to hit 13's on stock cam without any kind of forced induction or nitrous. single 3" on mine.

im all for single 3" all the way back. its alot cheaper and not a disadvantage in comparison to the true duel IMO.

funny, all 3 of the ecsb's going for the n/a record are in houston...this could get fun

why, why, why do you want cats?? it'll sound alot better without them?? are the cats that you are planning to use 3"?? if not, then it'll probably be a waste of pacesetter headers since they have 3" collectors.... I ordered the LT's and ORY, last week, so I hope it comes in any day now... I will be running LT's, ORY, 3"cutout, 3"SI/SO hooker, with all 3" pipe.... I'll let you hear it, so maybe you'll be convinced to run w/o cats??? by the way I think I might of found a muffler shop in pasadena that does some exhaust for a decent price... this guy was charging me $160 for 3" custom y-pipe and all the 3" pipe to the cutout and muffler and out the back.... not bad for the price for considering that I dont have cats, alot of shops dont want to do work on the trucks if they dont have pipes...

Well, my main thing with wanting cats is for staying legal. I don't know how everybody gets around not using cats here. Of course, I haven't kept a vehicle long enough lately to have to worry about doing inspections, so I don't know if they even look for the cats anymore, but.....

I also have an ecsb 5.3. I have ASM LT's and a custom stainless Y-pipe 3" out with magnaflow hiflo cat into a hooker aerochamber dumped over the rear axle beside the spare.
And I would not change a thing about it. It sounds better than any duel exhaust setup ive heard around here. Go with LT's, a single 3" cat and muffler dumped, you will love it.

Im in the process right now of trying to get an inspection sticker.... if I get it, then I'll probably be able to hook you up....
