I'm trying to put my new heads on and I bought some ARP Head Bolts to install during the swap. I cleaned out the threads on the block, but I can only put the ARP's in about 3 full turns with my fingers until they stop. I grabbed the old head bolts, and they go all the way in. I don't get it. I didn't clean out the threads with a tap, but why would the stock ones go in, and not the ARP's. I've checked the threads on both sets of bolts, and they match, so I just don't know wtf!

 

we had to chase 4 threads on my brand new heads. Hope you figure it out soon cause I want to see that bitch run.

 

You and me both!! It's been down for 2 1/2 months! Right now, I just want to hear the SOB start up, much less drive it!

 

are you sure theres not any lock tite on the threads of the new bolts?? Stock ones are made that way, not sure about the ARP ones, good luck.

 

Well the heads are on! WOOHOO!!!! The ARP's were just hard after 3 turns with the finger. Just put an extention on and they ran right in. Measured for the push rods, will be ordered tomorrow, and arrive Tues. probably. Hopefully next weekend we will be testing and tuning! The Bogarts, and MT's should be arriving next week also. I can't wait for those either. Those are gonna look sick. Time to make some people sad!
