Just wondering if it made a big difference. Just want to know about the 99 4.8's, nothing else.

And does anyone know how much horses and torque a stock 1999 4.8, and a stock 2000 5.3 have, just want to compare them.

its like 255 and 285 something around there

 

the stock hp and tq numbers of a 1999 4.8L are 255 hp and 270 tq, i think hp for 01 5.3 is like 285 and tq is 305? not sure. but about the tune i have the 99 4.8 and i talked to jesse last week and we would get an 02 pcm due to the crappy timing on the 99's. They help alot from what ive heard from other 4.8 guys. hope this helps!

 

guy I bought my truck from tuned it before i bought it (its a 5.3), he pulled like 29hp out of it...

 

the 99 model trucks had a lot of querks in them.they had false knock and a few other things that hurt them. a tune from an 02 model year will help out the most.

A tune would definetly wake it up(not handheld) and worth the money.99 hp is 255 hp and 270 tq i believe.The 5.3 is 275 hp and 305 tq (might be off a lil).The 99 was the bad year for tunig but a tune would change that

 

Affirmative the 99 4.8l had 255hp/285Tq!!!! and a 2000 5.3 was when it received more power with 285Hp/325Tq all the way to 03. I've done my research and all the the 03 5.3 are rated with the same numbers. 04 is when the boosted it up to 295Hp/335Tq
