Default Harland Sharps, 02 LS6 Springs, and a few other pics

I swapped in my Harland Sharp 1.7:1 roller rockers and 02 LS6 springs this weekend, and aside from 2 unexpected thunderstorms it was fairly smooth. I was hoping that the less agressive LS6 spring (compared to Comp 915's) would maybe lessen some of the tappin and clappin that I'm now starting to think is a lifter issue...noise didn't change one bit

Good news is that if and when I decide to upgrade cubes, I can still reuse the Harland Sharps And I will never change another spring on one of these engines without the Crane Valve Spring Tool! That thing is awesome!

Oh Yea, I almost forgot to mention...I had to grind slight notches in the head to allow for more clearance on the pushrod side of the rockers...no biggie, it seemed just a little tight to me.

No kidding, I thought my 1.8 rockers were rubbing the heads also. I let the rockers do their own grinding into the head to make the space they needed. Not sure how these rockers are working out cause my tranny slippage became noticeable after the install along with pretty blue smoke out the driver's side exhaust pipe.

People please, leave em stock or they become a bitch!

I don't feel any difference with the rockers, but I didn't go any bigger than the stock 1.7's. I was basically hoping to decrease some valvetrain noise, but that didn't happen. I think that the e-fans freed up a few ponies though, but nothing major. The Volant pretty much feels like the K&N FIPK did to me...maybe more responsive down low, but it's hard to tell. It seems to have a "tighter" sound to it than the FIPK...the K&N used to sound kinda like it was bogging a bit down low.

2000_Silverado_SS, did you hear any noise from the rockers while they "wore in"? I know that mine would have definitely rubbed (they still may have a bit). I wonder if one of your valve guides got damaged from the rocker clearance issue, causing that blue smoke you mentioned...or maybe a valve seal got tweaked...

News flash! Just removed my vavle cover on the driver's sideof the engine and discovered my rocker arm on the intake side of the #5 piston was laid over. It broke off at the stud and the shaft. I hope this is not because of the quality of the Harland Sharps. I probably just didn't tighten it down straight.

Putting the stockers on tomorrow. That means I ran a 13.8 on 7 cylinders. My best is 13.5 on my stock heads. How much faster do ya'll think she'll run on all 8?

What damage do ya'll think was done?

Wow, that's something! I'm real curious to know what you'll run with all 8. As far as damage done, hopefully none...could have hurt a pushrod or lifter? I plan on rechecking mine in a few hundred miles, hopefully all will be well.

Can you get some pics of the carnage?

I put the stock ones on and there is no more smoke. I'm still not seeing the power I thought I would with aftermarket heads.
