I'm going to chime in and agree with most that the whistle will make you insane after awhile. Whatever it added isn't worth the whistle at least to me. I had the Poweraid spacer which is probably the noisest one. Maybe some of the other ones aren't so noisy I'd think about it again. As for smoothing out the spacer and taking out the spiral kindof defeats the purpose of the spacer right? We've got a sheet of phenolic material (we use it for our CNC table rails) at work and I could machine a spacer for myself without the spiral. Maybe you'd get the same gains but without the whistle.

On another note, I was talking with an uncle of mine that works for a local GM dealership and he asked me about the spacer and why I took it off. I told him because of the whistle. We kept discussing it and he said "did you notice that your TB started gumming up again after you took it off"? I told him yes that shortly after I removed it I started getting that old sticky TB problem again. Maybe that spiraling keeps the air moving instead of ramming into the back of the intake and coming forward depositing all the crap back onto the TB. Talk amongst yourselves...

So far I'm pleased with the HPT. I'm only at 3/4 of a tank so it'll be a while before I fill up. My mileage looks like it has gone up some. Normally when I get to 3/4 of a tank, I've gone about 115 miles, I'm at 128 now at 3/4 of a tank. My normal driving pattern is about 75% city and 25% freeway. My mileage always goes down to 14-14.2 mpg during the winter and cooler months, and is 15-15.2 mpg during the summer and warmer months. The electric fans have given me about .5 mpg increase, my last two tanks were 14.6 & 14.8.. I'll post my mpg when I fill up.

Just don't volunteer for any bouble blind studies as you might get them to start using sugar pills to cure cancer!

You might get a bit better mpg but when I tried mine a couple of years ago it cost some topend power mostly because it's about 2mm narrower than the actual tbi unit...besides I like the SC whine better <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

BTW:
I'm looking to buy another one but I just want to use it as an adapter for my two extra injectors I will need to install with the 383 engine.
