without seeing the spec's on both cams, i don't get it. if you didn't pick the right cam the first time it's pretty easy to gain that much. what are the spec's on the truck also?

I can give you the specs on the 221 cam but I cant on the other. The 221 cam was supposed to be a custom cam for my setup. This was done by both cammotion and Futral motorsports. This is a N/a Truck.

221 cam specs
.006 271*
.050 221*
.200 135*

.586/.586 112lsa +4

Look, Im not trying to start a flame war here or anything like that. A custom cam cost the same thing as an off the shelf cam, so why not get something for your specific goals. When I first started this project, I wanted to go a different way than most people and I did at the expense of changes, changes and more changes. At the time, people were just getting off the shelf stuff and no one knew much about the trucks, everyone wanted to give something that worked in a 5.7 3500lb car. Things are a lot different for a truck. I know this now, and Im trying to help some of you out. Its your money, spend it like you like. Theres just a whole lot more potential for these engines besides the things off the shelf. Thanks to Ed, Im happy now, because the truck is finally reaching my goals.

you have a great point, but on the other hand are you saying that you couldn't have gotten the same results from a different off the shelf cam? i'm not knocking your point at all. most of the times that someone goes faster with a custom cam it's simply because their first choice just wasn't the correct off the shelf cam for their application anyway.

So far, no one has, so the point you are trying to make is moot.

The results speak for themselves. The customer is happy with the results and no amount of internet bashing can take that away from his success.

So right or wrong, who picks this "magical" off the shelf camshaft? Some internet warrior who says his father's, cousin's, sister who saw an old camshaft box in the dumpster behind Walmart? Or maybe they stayed at a Holiday Inn Express?

Think about it. Catalog or specialist? Who would you rather have on your side?

Ed are you saying that no off the shelf cam has matched or exceeded your results? The guys with 220 and 224 "cam only" trucks are putting down better dyno and track numbers.
