Yeah i'm really hopin my city won't change much. It may only get drove 100 miles a week or so, so it's not THAT big of a concern, but i did buy this truck to keep from driving my 96 3500 that gets 11-13mpg. The dually was my trash/parts hauler, and it got real old putting gas in it every time i drove it just to go pick up a motor, or set of wheels or something.

Your on the right track man! I wouldnt go to tall on the gears if you decide to swap them out. Gonna make it that much harder to hook up at the track.

I've actually been thinking a lot about that lately. Right now i'm running 265/75r16's, which is i think a 32.2, and with the factory 3.42's it feels incredibly slow. I was gonna go 4.56 in preparation for the t56 swap, but i may end up going with an 80e, but the 456's would put my 75mph rpms at almost 2900 in OD. Like i said, the truck isn't a daily, but i don't want my gas mileage to be too awful, so i'm thinking I may just go with 4.10's. Then run a 285/75 for the most part, and when it comes time to really hook up at the track i was thinking of buying some adapters to run the wheel and tires (28x12.5 et street) from my caprice.

I gotta admit I really like my 3.73s (old truck had 4.10s) but Im also on a 60e. With 3.73s and 285/50-20 tires im running 75 right at 2k rpm. I feel like they are the perfect middle ground.

I'm on 285/70-17s with a 6.2/6-speed/3.73 setup, and I which it had at least 4.10s...

^ I think with the 6 speeds you can get away running a little bit taller gear since the OD is a little bit deeper then on the 4 speeds. With the 4L60E its nice having a shorter gear to get more use out of 1st gear and better RPMs when cruising.

i really think i'm gonna go with the 4.10's. I think the 4.56's would just be too much gear since i'm never gonna go over a 33 inch tire and i'll prob be dropping to a 28 inch tire when it comes time to get serious at the track. And i think the 4.10's will probably work fairly well with the 60e, 80e, and probably the T56 if i decide that's the route i'm gonna go.

hope ya'll dont mind, i'm gonna keep posting my times in this thread so i can keep up with them. Things haven't went as planned so i didn't mod the truck much at all last year, however i've put the intake on, cut stock muffler off and replaced with dynomax bullet and a turndown. Traction is a HUGE issue now, 2 passes tonight, 1st pass i literally spun 300+ft (no posi yet), 2nd pass i eased out of the hole and gradually went WOT, 10.003@73.7 with 2.566 60', My trap speed was 2.5mph faster than last year even with the horrible launch. I've got some LT headers here waiting to test fit, but i think i may go ahead and get an LSD because more HP isn't gonna help when i can't plant what i've got to the ground.

Just thought i'd bump this up since it's been a little while. Hopefully other members get an idea of about what kind of power and improvement a certain mod can give them by reading my first post. I've got my 4.10's here at the house, but it'll probably be a few months before they get installed.
