I done mine with a rachet wrench with the the head swivels on..
Don't feel bad man it took me like 4 hrs the first time and this was with air tools the stock exhaust can be a biotch.. Then the y pipe is allittle sketchy to get everything to work right. Last time I put them back on it didn't take me over 45minutes just to put em back on with hand tools on the ground.
That ticking/chchchchchchchch sound you have is more than likely the valvetrain noise.. Did you not hear mine last time? It sounds like a sewing machine and its even gunna be worse with the new double springs lol. As long as you can't feel any air puffing out of them anywhere you just got valvetrain noise. Mine leak right around the y pipe connection to the catback and its been a pita to get it to quit. But hopefully I get some bigger headers before too long so I aint real worried

I took off the fender liners for more room to work with. I can't remember if I got to that bolt from the wheelwell or from underneath. Either way, once you get the driver side manifold off, remove that heat shield & throw it away. It might be a good idea to do the same with the passenger side heat shield. My bad luck reared it's head in the form of the driver manifold to down pipe connection. I managed to round off the nut & then had to cut/drill it out.
