Default Goodbye 5.3.. Hello 6.0

The 5.3 took a dump last week. It happened at the shop when they were changing the rear end. A 6.0 from an 03 1500D, lg4, will be at the shop tomorrow. I guess its time to order that 2.75 pulley.

Previous best was 13.6 @ 105 with the 5.3, gt2-3 cam, TOG headers, and a 3.1 pulley all at 5300 pounds on 22's in 90 degree heat. Curious to see what it will do now with everything above and a 2.75 pulley and a 6.0.

Hopefully 12's!!!

Went to the shop to view the carnage, wish I would have brought the digital camera.

The rod snapped in the middle, a pretty clean break. When the rod snapped, the piston was sent fyling forward into the open valve bending the valve and damaging the pushrod, lifter, and cam.

At some point, the piston exited the block. There is about a 3" hole in the block. The heads looked horrible on one side. It looked like the piston disegrated (sp) and pieces shot back up the intake tract and debris were spreaded across all the cylinders on top of the pistons.

We checked the supercharger and it doenst look like anyhting made it pass the intercooler. The j-tube was removed the rotors looked good, thank god!

This happened while they were just moving your truck around the parking lot at the rear-end shop?

Yeah I hope he's helping, I would be a little more than angry. I probably..nevermind. If you need a heavy let me know

Metal fatigue, yeah that's putting it lightly. Could it happen at low rpm?
