Default Good deal on ls1 long block??

There's a guy here locally with 2000 LS1 long block for sale. Says its got 89,000 mi. asking 1,000 OBO. You guys think thats a decent deal. I was just thinking of getting a backup for down the road. maybe I should offer him 500.00 and see if that flys.

Check the cylinder walls. You can only get about 10 thousandths overbore before the block is toast. You should buy it and sell me the cam.

Why would you want the cam? Isn't the ls1 cam fairly small?

Ok here is the scoop. It was from a trans am formula. The guy works for a gm dealer. The owner brought the car in for warranty because it made a very slight ticking noise when it was warm on the top end probably a lifter. So they replaced the motor under warranty. He says if it was him he would just through it in a car and drive it. It was a totaly stock motor.

If I bring down 850.00 its mine.

That is a decent price but what kind of warranty coverage would replace a motor at 89,000?

The car was bought used from the dealership this guy works at. He added an extended warranty to it.
