Lightbulb Good day just got BAD!!!

Well, I finally had time to break into the truck and see if the cam was in the right spot. Well Good news, it's not!!! That should solve some of my problems with it running like crap. Some how, I must have moved it when I installed it an got it out of line!!!

Bad new, droped a cover plate bolt in the oil pan.

Presently removing oil pan. Couln't find it with a pen mag.

Can you describe how your truck was acting? Know someone else experiencing some problems after a cam swap. He has lost a lot of power and is running extremely hot, but the truck runs. Was this what you had?

Ben I never had any heat problems. My main problems were bad idle, stumble at tip in, misfires codes, wanting to die while braking around a corner (pulling from the power steering pump), a real pig down low. BTW, I had the damn thing in 180* out!!!! Yes, and it still ran. In fact, I ran it that way at the Spring Break Shootout. It's running much better now that I flipped it and realined it.. LOL!!!!!

Let me edit that 180* part. I probably was lined up somewhat. I just got enlightened to that. Since the cam turns 1/2 as fast as the crank I probably could have rotated the crank one revolution and lined them back up. (thanks 66ImpalaLT1) But I was at least a tooth of if not more. But it is lined up beutifully now and runs very good.
