Default Going through with it!

Ok guys, i've been coming to this site for well over a year + now i've decided to do the 6.0 swap. ranwalk has me sold on one. NO MORE 4.8 T-less wonder! So im trying to gather as much info as I can from you guys. Heres what i'm looking for and any input yall have is appreciated.

6.0 liter engine, mild cam (truck has to be streetable for daily driver) asm headers, build my aluminum foil of a tranny stock 4l60e, and 4.10's w posi to back it up.
I know i will need ls1edit as well

ok, my questions are....what size/duration cam should I go with? Where are good places to have my tranny built in the Baton Rouge/ southern LA area? how reliable will it be once the swap is completed? what sort of times should i expect to see out of this setup in a EC silverado?

Thanks in advance.
Blake

HAMMER CAM from MTI....Thunder Racing can probably hook ya up with a Tranny, aren't they in LA. you'll need a Converter for sure.

Yeah Thunder is within 5 miles of us and Futral MS is also very close to our area. Him and I are going to do the swap ourselves once he gets everything together. I told him to look for 13s outta that setup, does that sound about right as long as traction is good?

I've heard several people mention the Comp 212/218 .522/.529 114 for the 6.0L, although I'm sure that you could "get away" wit more cam. Sounds like you don't want any compromises with good power, which I think this cam would do for you.

I will have one for sale shortly, so keep me in mind if you decide to go with this cam.

that 212/218 cam is great for a 4.8, but the 6.0 is a bigger motor with heads that flow enough to run a bit bigger cam. i would go with a Hammer cam, it puts down over 400rwhp in cam only cars all the time. can't go wrong.

I wouldn't call the 212/218 .522 a great cam for the 4.8. It killed what little torque I had but pulls like a beast up until redline. I really feel like I need a little tuning to get the truck to be a no compromises, daily driver type of setup with this cam in a 4.8.

I think that a Hammer cam would need waaaay too much tuning and be a little big for what this guy seems to want:

6.0 liter engine, mild cam (truck has to be streetable for daily driver) asm headers, build my aluminum foil of a tranny stock 4l60e, and 4.10's w posi to back it up.
I know i will need ls1edit as well

the hammer cam drives like a daily driver's wet dream in a stock heads, untuned 5.7LS1 motor....seen it. it makes incredible power also. one of the reasons your truck didn't run to great with the cam you had was you were untuned, and had a stock torque converter. those things play HUGE roles in working together....you also have stock manifolds which don't promote the cam working to it's full potential. but whatever you think. hell, i have one of the bigger cams in my motor....not at all the biggest but bigger than most, and sure it has SOME issues w/idle but not all the time, and they're definatly not something you just can't live with.

LIke I said, just my opinion. Learning to "just deal with things" wasn't what I was looking for, and judging from the first post, isn't what stoopidfly is looking for either.

Maybe the higher lift (.550-something) 212/218?

i run a 224/244 514/521 cam in a 4.8 with head and it is awsome the cam/heads combo gave me a sh*t load of power through out the power band. I dont think the radix hurts either.
