I have a 1993 GMC Sonoma with a 4.3L V6 Engine from a 1998 GMC C1500 truck w/ vortec heads. I also have the cold air intake and edelbrock headers and magnaflow exhaust. I am getting the engine bored .030 over and have a rebuild kit come for the .030 bore. I am now looking into buying a camshaft and intake manifold for it. It is throttle body injected. Wondering if anyone had some suggestions for me. I want it to sound really good at idle but still have great performance. Please help!!!

 

look at Vinci High Performance. They're a sponsor to the right. Other than that not much input for the V6 other than find some specs for Grand Nationals and stuff like that. Maybe find a GN turbo

 

GN's run a 3.8 which shares nothing with the 4.3, SY/TY's had a turbo 4.3. The 4.3 is basically a small block v-8 with 2 less cylinders. It is somewhat of a TBI, later vortecs have individual injectors inside the intake refered to as "spider" injectors where as earlier one's have a true TBI with two injectors squirting fuel into the throttle body. GMPP as well as several aftermarket companies make performance parts. Check Scoggins Dickey for the gmpp parts as well as other vendors in the column on the right.

Edelbrock and comp make cams for it. Check out SummitRacing.com or Jegs.com Summit's website is easier to use . They both have cams for your truck...

 

o thats right it was the Syclone with a turbo 4.3 my bad. and they were TPI -Tune Port Injection. Same as the early I-Rocs but those were 5.7s
