Default GM AC Recall Rumor

While getting new tires the shop guys looked my Radix over. I deal there regularly and get to hang out around my truck while they do it.
Spoke with a garage technician who said GM is about to do a recall or recall service on AC compressors mounted on the lower right side of the engines. He said to watch for the AC belt idler to start bouncing more than usual due to the reeds going bad prematurely.
Did not get time to ask how he knew or what year range. So watch your idlers.

Sounds like a good plan. I had a belt break on my A/C and it turned out to be a locked up compressor. I had it replace under warranty, but also heard that ther had been other customers with problems. 03 SS here.

I had a friend get a recall postcard in the mail for his 2000 Silvy, but it said nothing about what the problem was. Keep us updated if you find anything else out.

I had taken mine in for the same noise from the engine I had it narrowed down to ac components and they said it wa acceptable screaching. I about strangled the tech. I told him there no such thing as acceptable screaching.
