Gibson Or MagnaFlow?
#13
My Gibson stainless single in/dual out has held up to the elements excellently for about 9 years through New Jersey winters, but was way too quiet for my taste until I removed the tail pipes and dumped it before the axle. Can't say that I noticed much difference in performance, but I think that there's only a little to be had in the cat backs. I've heard other Gibson systems, and they're quiet too. I've heard and driven trucks with Magnaflow systems, and they're very quiet at idle, but have a nice growl at WOT. My future set up is going to consist of 2 Magnaflow 4" round 14" long mufflers, a Magnaflow x-pipe, and will be dumped either before or after the axle, not sure yet.
I have heard that Magnaflow used to own Gibson, but I'm not sure how true that is. I'll bet that they perform about the same, so if I were to choose I'd go by sound, and I like the way the Magnaflow sounds better.

Reading the link to the Gibson cat-back you posted, I see it's not stainless steel. IMO whichever you buy should be stainless.
I think you'll be happy with either one. Remember they get louder over time

I couldn't get the Gibson off my truck fast enough - worst drone I've ever heard, before or since. The place that installed it agreed with me.
Don't waste your time with a catback - just replace the stock muffler with a Magnaflow and be done with it.
