I was thinking about buy a set of Gibson stainless steel headers for my 5.3 Silverado. Has anyone purchased these headers and are you satisfied with them? How much power does shorty headers really make?

 

good headers, only make like 5 or 6hp. Long tubes would be alot better, and cost about the same

 

I had Gibson shorties and 1.85 rocker arms and put them both on at the same time. I could feel a pretty good difference. I recently switched to AS&M long tubes. I could feel a bigger difference with the long tubes than I could with the Gibson shorties and rocker combo. Dont waste your money on the Gibsons get a set of long tube headers. They cost more but they make a bigger difference. You will be glad you did.

 

How about the Other Guys Headers since they are mid length how much of a hassle would it be to install them?

 

The headers are easy to put on, you have to cut the y-pipe in front of the catalytic converters and weld new flanges on. It was a b*tch to get the new flanges just right.
