Default Is Gibson cat-back really that bad?

I'm starting to put together a plan for some exhaust upgrades (it'll probably take me a while to get the $$$, so by the time I do, I want to have it all figured out). I plan to get some lt's (either ASM's, Pacesetter's, StainlessWorks, etc.), some high flow cats (gotta pass NJ Inspection), and I'm not sure what from there. I have the Gibson dual outlet cat-back that's been on there for about 4 years, and it's still holding up well. I really like the way the 2 tailpipes look coming out the back, so whatever I do, I'm sticking with that style.

Is this thing really junk? Seems nobody likes the Gibson stuff, and I'm curious as to why. If I'm gonna dump a bunch of cash to do everything nice up front, I don't want to choke it with junk out back.

All I know is this, I heard the gibson side exit exhaust (exits before the rear wheel) on an 05 rcsb 5.3 today and I really didn't like the sound. It was a bit raspy.

I had a Gibson catback on for about a month, then took it off. It was absolute junk.

It didn't make power, or you didn't like the sound or construction?

We started carrying Corsa at work. They brought in 4 demo vehicles, all GM. 2 5.3's and 2 6.0's. Two of each had the sport and two had the touring. I couldnt believe how quiet they all were!! For god sake, if im paying the $800 some odd dollars, or jobber, I wanna hear my god dam exhaust. Mufflers were HUGE!!!

I have the gibson single side exit on my truck. It has a descent tone to it but it does get a little raspy sometimes, all and all it isn't too bad but I will definitely go with something different next time.

i have the two pipes right before the tires. I like it. I have not gone with anything else on this truck so I could not tell you if the performance sucks or is good on this thing, it did feel like it picked up a little horses after putting it in.

I had the 3 inch cat back. Nice and quiet and still made pretty good power.
