Getting ready to order my cam and was wondering how many of you guys change the timing gears when you do a cam swap. Also I cant remember but does the Thunder cam kits come with lifters? I know they come with push rods, seals, rockerarms. At least that is what I heard. But when I called I dont remember the guy saying any thing about lifters. I'm sure it comes with them but just wanted to make sure. thanx.

I would go with a new timing chain,just for my own peace of mind.A stretched timing chain can cause real issues.

 

I just threw in a new stock chain. Lots of peeps are pushing insane amounts of power on stock chains. So I figured my modest setup would be OK. Plus my friend had problems when he shimmed his oil pump out to run a double roller chian. But JWIS does make a single roller stock replacment. I think.

 

Ok well I guess I will be going with a new one. What about those lifters? Does any one know about those? Thanx.

The stock lifters are fine unless you go with a setup so radical that you need dual valvespring for .600 lift plus.

 

I am pretty sure that the cam kit does not come with the lifters, you have to buy them seperatly. I know that when I was going to by from thunder, the lifters was not included in the package. I am going to be using the stock lifters.

 

Damn I wonder why all the other cam kits come with lifters and not Thunders. At least all the other cam kits I have seen come with lifters. Maby just a way to get more money after selling there sky high cams. J/k Thanx guys. cant wait to get it and put it in. I think that 112 is going to sound mean as hell with no cats and turndowns.

 

Highperformance replacement lifters are available from Crane and Comp,but the stockers should be fine.
