My shims idea for the crank position reluctor wheel didn't pan out. The wheel was touching the timing cover, so instead I machined .050" from the back of the wheel so it will clear the chain.

The front lip of the oil pan gasket got destroyed, a one piece oil pan gasket too. Tomorrow I'll drop the pan and install a new gasket.

Oil pan is just about done, by the time I started bolting it back up last night it was getting to dark to see anything. So I'll pick it up this morning.

I absolutely love how the GMT800's have the crossmember under the engine oil pan that just unbolts from the frame!

Yay, broken parts...

I put the motor back together, fired it up. Heard a noise under the drivers side valve cover. I found the exhaust rocker on cylinder #5 like this.

I think I'll take the opportunity to get a set of 1.52 ratios instead of these 1.6ers, I've felt the 1.6ers exaggerate an already aggressive ramp rate of the Comp XE cam without any real benefit.

The new comp 1.52 magnum roller tips

The valvetrain runs alot quieter now, and I lost a little lope at idle. But no biggy.

I do however need to investigate a noise from behind the timing cover, I have a feeling it has something to do with crank position reluctor wheel, the shims or the sensor
