it depends what you plan on doing with the truck. for example, mine came with stock 3.73. i could not even break the tires loose. then i put a yank 3000 TC and i had one wheel peel all the time so i put in Eaton posi, which made a big difference. i still break the tires loose alot and real easy too. here is what i would do:

- 4.10's with Eaton and no TC

or

- 3.73's with Eaton and TC

if you are 2 WD, go with the 4.10's. see if you like it. if not, at least all you have to do is swap the rear gear and not 2.

do you do alot of highway driving?

is it a daily driver? are you going to keep modding? do you want a good low end grunt? i went to 3.90's. now that i have an 80e i kinda wish i went to 4.10's. but i do love my 3.90's.

its a daily driver, but i like the low end grunt, I use to drive a 454ss and i got use to having some low end. If i switch gears will i have to replace the G80. And i will be modding later on.

I think you just need to change the gears.

i never installed gears, but i did do my Eaton. you probably need the same tools. if there are any bearrings, you'll have to get those pressed on. i had to take it somewhere. you probably are going to need a dial indicator to measure backlash since you will be changing both the ring and pinion gears. you don't want too much backlash or too little
