Default gears

I have 29" tall tires on my truck. What gears do you guys recommend? I don't want to destroy my gas mileage, its an everyday driver. I am currently running 3.42s and spin real bad.(1 tire fire!)

Hey John, how much did it cost you total to get your 3.73s put in? Just wondering what a gear swap usually cost, unless you did it yourself.

Are you a regular cab or extended cab? I would suggest 3.90's for a ext cab and 3.73's for a reg cab.

hey slow, well, bigkid, another friend of mine and i did mine and the only cost were the gears and of course that fluid stuff from GM and some normal gear lube. it was easy to do the swap, but i had help. if you want to do a gear swap, let me know. we can do it for cheap (cost of gears and fluid).

I have a single cab. I guess I will try the 3.73s. Anyone know where I can get a good posi differential tho? I called a local salvage yard. They told me they had a rear end with a G80 posi and 3.73s with 56,000 on it and they wanted $1000. I told them that they were crazy. I know the Eaton is a good differential but I was wanting to go the cheaper route and get a G80. Can anyone hook me up? What do they usually go for?
