Default Gears??

which gears would give me the best 1/4 mile times?? the truck has 3.42's now and i have 285/50R20 tires so these gears have got to go. i was thinking 4.10 (i don't want to go lower than that) also I am puting on a supercharger later this month so should i go with higher gears than the 4.10's? like 3.90's maybe? thanks for the input.

Another vote for 4.10's. This is what I would get if I were to have 3.42.

4.10s would be fine as long as your tires are over 28" tall and you are not expecting to stay in 2nd gera through the 1/4mile.

A blower will cause the engine to rev up much faster so you can't run as tall a gear as you would N/A in some applications due to reving too high through the traps.

My last couple of trucks have had 4.10's (and 31-32" tires). I never want another gas truck with gearing any taller.

Even now, I wouldn't mind going a bit deeper. I'd probably be more serious about it, if I didn't have a front end to also convert. (then again, I'd be getting no traction if I didn't have it with these gears)

4.10s
Doesn't effect mileage like everyone thinks....or at least it didn't change mine, and I drive half freeway, half city.

quicksilverado, Thanks, I bought them at a muscle car show over here, they are Torq thrust ST's but im not sure who makes them ,maybe american racing?
I've had 4:10 with these wheels on my last truck and i didn't mind them at all i found them too have the same gas mileage, with the supercharger though i was thinking that maybe a taller gear would help with will spin. I've heard its better to go with a little taler gear with a supercharger, is this true? thanks for all the help.
