Default gauge mounted in cluster

i dicided to try and mount my boost gauge in the empty hole in the cluster, it worked out prety good, i took some pictures if anyone is interested. the only problem i have is there is a glare from the glass, i may go back in and break the glass out of the gauge, then it will be perfect.

i also mounted a fuel presure gauge and the whipple light in the left vent hole. i couldn't decide on the best spot so i tried that hole and it looks good too, the only thing is i have one less vent, i think it will be ok.

Well, post the pics-sounds cool!! I mounted my whipple light in the blank panel next to the pass side airbag switch (which I have since removed). That light is useless and when I get around to it I am gonna take it out.

this is something new to me, i will try and link a pic. you can click on the pic to get a bigger pic and i am going to try and add a few more.

web page

thats prety cool, my first web page, i am not complety happy with the location of the gauges but i think it was my best option.

i am not sure but when i start to hop this thing up more(6.0, headers) that little whipple light might come in handy, the whipple computer is suposto cut the boost and flash the light if there is a lean condition, it might be enuff to get me to look at the fuel presure gauge.

I posted this in another of your threads last week, but the Whipple computer CANNOT cut boost. It will flash a little light at you, nothing more. It is your responsibility to let off the gas. This creates the change in vacuum pressure, which disables boost and allows the bypass. That is the only way. It will not monitor air / fuel ratio either. Its primary purpose is to add fuel via the aux injectors. It does monitor exhaust gas temp and will flash the LED at you if this gets too hot. Like it or not, those are the facts.

Don't rely on the Whipple FMU to keep you out of trouble, its not that smart.

hey Tex, why so excited, isn't it posiable that there is more than one version of the whipple set up? I have the instruction right here and will copy a section for you, i can tell you there is no exhaust temp sensor with this kit and there is a electrical conection to the bypass valve. I don't expect the whipple computer to save my engine but any help i can get i will take.

"The WMIL(whipple malfunction indicator light) will turn on steady if the ocygen sensor reading reads lean condition. This activates the boost control system and lowers the boost to 2lbs. If this condition occurs it is imperative that engine speen be reduced until the WMIL turns off. You muct release the throttle at least 20% for it to reset the active boost control system"

Very nice! I wanted to do that with my air/fuel guage b/c I don't look at it as much as I do the tach. Putting it in that spot would make it easy to monitor both guages at once. Hey did cuting any of those jumper lines do anything bad? On a side note, Gees you have a clean work bench

the only lands that i cut were dead end ones that went to where the tranz temp gauge is suposta be, i didn't have to do any jumpering, just cut it and clean the edge after the cut

Hey parish8, I am going to do the same thing only with an Air/Fuel guage now (i really am doing it right now). But i ran into a prob. How did you get the bezel off of your fuel press. guage to get it to fit into the stock (entire) guage bezel. I tried twisting and pulling on my air/fuel guage bezel to get it off and the glass out, but it would not come off. Hopefully i didnt do too bad of a job describing my situation. Please help bud.

i didn't take the bezel off the gauge, i took the clear plastic off the front of the factory gauge set up. I didn't take it completly off but i did cut more than 1/2 way around with a utility kinfe and then pulled it up and poped the gauge in. when i was done i used some clear adhisive caulk to hold it together. you can see me pulling up on the plastic on one of those pic's

good luck
Jim
