Default Gas Mileage Update

Several weeks ago I posted about the exceptionally poor gas mileage my '01 Z-71 was getting (12 - 13 MPG). Since I wasn't completely satisfied with either the mileage or performance, I did the smart thing and upgraded to an '02 Z-71. The trucks are identical except for color and the new one has power seats and locking differential. First tank in the '01 produced a whopping 13.3 MPG. First tank in the '02 was a surprising 14.6 MPG. Driving conditions and habits between the two comparisons are the same.

I guess this proves (at least to myself) that the factory does have good and bad days. While the '01 was far from a lemon, it just never lived up to my expectations. The '02 performs better and gets the MPG I was expecting.

And... yes I did have the dealer check the '01 and they couldn't find anything wrong with the engine, or anything else for that matter.

Thanks
Randy

That was mighty risky of you to trade for the same truck only a year apart. Wouldn't you have been pissed if both trucks had the same fuel mpg?

Or, did you really just get bored of the old color? There had to be some other reasons for the trade I suppose <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Lets see some pics of that Z!
