Have always put 87 in my '02 Kon & '86 Silvy... until I started mod'n the Silvy.

You'll be fine with 87. Manufacturer recommendation (if memory serves) is unleaded. No distinction on higher than basic grade. Premium's req'd for Lexus, Beemer, and Acura cars designed to use it at all times.

When My truck was stock I Always used midgrade, Then I tried premium, I got 40+ more miles on a tank of premium. If you figure it out in Pennies per mile it's cheaper to run premium. It cost more to fill up, But you'll go farther. so It is the better way to go. Now I have to use it, but thats Okay, I used it anyway.

91 or better is recommended for the Lq9 as per GM. I've had 89 in mine and it seemed to idle kinda rough. Spend the extra .20 per gal. Its worth it IMO
