Default G-Tech Pro?

I've heard many people talk about this product and hear that it makes a ton of difference. What is it, I think I have seen it but from what I could tell all it did was tell you what your hp, tq, is and your 1/4 and 1/8 times, basically just a performacne meter. Is it true and if so how could this enhance performance? There is a guy on www.hypertech.com under the "proof of power" link and he says that his 99 Z28 ran a 14.0 bone stock on bald tires and then he goes on explaining that on a better day with the G-Tech Pro he ran like a 13.4. What the hell!!!

I used a G-tech in my truck when I went to San Antonio Raceway and the G-tech time said I ran a 15.6@89, and the actual track time was 14.4@94. In my only experience with one I think they suck. I think Parish8 uses one and has better luck with his.

i have used mine alot at the track. it is the newer "competition" model. something like 30+runs with it. with the exception of the last time to the track the most it has been of was .18sec.

the last time i went to the track it was nearly .4 off, that kind of pissed me off but i have never calibrated it other than the first time i used it. i am going to calibrate it each time i use it now and do some more test runs at the track. if it is off as much as .4 even with recent calibrations then i dont think it is worh the money. wont be able to report on that till next year though.

the 60' has never been off more than .01 though!! that is worth something, alot actualy. the gtech wont give you more power but if you are traction limited it sure will help you learn the quickest way to launch. it is also very usefull in determining your best shift points.

The G-Tech Pro is not a power adder, it just tells estimates how much power you are making.

ya, it is just a meter. not a performance enhancer. i have the newer one that parish8 has. it is pretty slick. haven't got my money's worth yet because it is hard to find places to use it unless you are at the track which i don't do. i found one spot by my house that is a flat, straight road, but it takes 15 minutes to get there. it would be nice if there was a stretch of road a mile away then it would be easier to make performance ajustments at home and quick see how they affected your ET's

No, that is the crappy old model. The Pro Competition model is what you want.
