i am thinking about getting one. i was wondering what everyone thought about it? can you take and switch from car to car, truck to truck, or does it get vin locked or anything like that? would i be able to run it in my truck then take it and hook it up in my buddies truck and run it? thanks.

it is a pretty slick unit. i haven't used mine in a while, but i got it out yesterday and my truck was running about 15.3xx. i was pretty happy about the ET's but my 60' times were aweful, at 2.499-2.5
the nice thing about them is that they will work in any car. you can use a suction cup that comes with the unit and mount it to your windshield. i permanently mounted mine. you can see it in the pics. it also reads your vehicles RPM through the cigarette lighter. i find that amazing. i got mine for $250, but i am sure you can find it cheaper elsewhere. i got it when it 1st came out so i had to pay an arm and a leg. once you have the unit, you can use it for the rest of your life with all the vehicles you are going to own. if you have any more ?'s just ask them and i will do the best i can to answer. i guess these units are pretty accurate with the 1/4, 60', and 0-60, but i guess the MPH are a little off. but i think the 1st 3 things i mentioned are the most important when doing mods and to see where you are at.

I am not sure how well the new G-Techs work. The old ones were not too bad but off by about 2-3 10ths and the MPH could be as bad as 6mph off! The new ones are supposed to be much better.
I prefer the Escort G-Timer. I have been testing them because we sell them here at my stereo shop and it works really well. I tested it at the track a few times and it was always within .12 and .7mph of what I actually ran. If you deep stage then it is even more accurate.
My only gripe is every once in awhile I get a glitch and it says I ran WAY faster than I should have. But It is easy to tell and I disregard those runs.
