Yes and No.......Any time you can open up the stock airbox to cooler air it is a good thing, it is a well known fact that the stock airbox is restrictive on these trucks. In a FI application, anytime you can improve airflow and quality of air going in you are helping the "compressor". Magnacharger uses the factory air box for OEM quality and emmissions reasons, if you add an open air filter i.e. cold air intake, you will see more boost. Point in fact, the lighting guys, what is one of the first mods they do besides the pulley upgrade? Answer: cold air intake, or openair filter.

BTW, I have the bottom of my airbox opened up, makes a hell of a difference.

Now before we go and make assumptions on this. Is it the actual cold air, or the restriction that is being lifted by changing to a conical type filter?

Not assuming anything!

Both. All supercharged vehicles make more power in cooler weather.

Blown is right, even straightening out the often contortionist intake piping that normally comes with a supercharger kit can lower intake temps several degrees with no other mods.

i agree, on a system with a bypass valve reducing restriction or a ram air will have a similar affect on an s.c vehicle as on a n.a , maybe not quite as much because of the turns in the s.c plumbing and radiated heat. even though the s.c will heat the air as it passes the cooler the ari is when it's ingested the cooler more o2 rich the air will be when it gets to the cylinder. while i agree different engines benefit more or less depending on the stock restriction, like blownchevy said, cooler, denser air makes more power.
