Default Fuel pump life

Wife ran the 04 yukon out of fuel,how long will a fuel pump live once this happends?,its under warrenty and what happend was the fuel gauge read 1/8th tank when it ran out.It was the first time ,no warrning.Not sure if I want to send the family on the road before the modual is replaced.

Well It is hard on it but the fuel pumps in th 99 and newer trucks is much improved from the 95-98 truck. Should be ok for 3-6 years. Just don't run out of fuel or it will go out within a year or so. Hope this helps

don't let it be a habit, but I don't think doing that once will cause eminit failure

Thanks for your reply,I want to confirm,this 04 yukon was ran out of gas a couple of days ago.What are the odds it will fail her on a up coming trip approx 350 miles round trip.

Definatly won't be a problem as long as it wasn't run too long.

The dam thing shut off like you turned the key,that is wierd to run out of gas like that. Then she cranked on it for a few seconds two different times.So I hope she makes the trip with no issues,appointment made for next week.Service manager lives in our development,he is going to drive it in and bring it back on Wednesday.

I ran my truck out of gas once and my ex-GF did too that has been about 15K miles ago and it worked the last time I used the truck.

How Can You Let Your Truck Ran Out Of Gas? I Mean Seriously, We Have 26 Gallon Tanks?

In my case the sending unit all of a sudden went bad and read 1/8th tank when it was out.

Sending unit was bad in my truck so you had to go by mileage and I forgot to zero the counter when I filled up. My ex just forgot the gas gauge didnt work.
