Default Fuel pump, How do I do this?

Alright, I currently ahve the stock fuel pump and intank filter on my 04 silverado, but will be needing a larger pump soon for the new motor.

Do I HAVE to put the new pump in the tank, or can I mount it on the frame rail(i'd prefer this way)?

If I CAN put it on the frame rail, instead of inplace of the existing pump, how do get the fuel to the pump? Do I run a line from existing pump, to the new pump, and disable old pump.. or?

Would it be advisable, and within reasonable effort to do away with the intank filter and put an inline filter on the frame rail, where I could actually access it without dropping the tank to change it? I just prefer the old inline style.

Thanks a bunch guys! Ive never put in a performance fuel pump before so excuse my ignorance on the subject.

I don't think you can put a pump on the rail because of the returnless style fuel system that's on the 04+ trucks.

You can add an inline pump to a returnless system if you have one of these: http://aeromotiveinc.com/pdetail.php?prod=32

For 500$ i think i'll just go with an intank pump lol. Could go with a really nice dual pump setup for that cost. Thanks though, dident know about that product.
