Question fuel pump dieing?

My fuel pump started constantly whining couple of months ago. It starts to whine after I have been driving for about 30-45 mins and then won't quit. In the past it only whined when I was really low on fuel.

Cant really tell ya if Its going out or not. I would guess prolly but dont take my word for it. I can tell you that You sure didnt help it by running low on fuel. Also if you havent been changing the fuel filter you better watch out. I never run less than a half take and change the filter every 9k miles. Hope your getting worried for nothing but I wish you the best of l luck.

I change my fuel filter regularly and I never let it get below a quarter of tank. I was just conserned cause it just started around a month ago.

How many miles on the truck? My bro's went out around 130 on a 01 Silvy and my 99 Sierra at 170k hasn't gone out yet. His gave him notice before it quit though like turning over and not firing the first time. He had time to fix it before he absolutley had to. I think it's damn near 400 bucks though. I suggest lifting the bed off rather than dropping the tank just MHO.

I've got 54K on it right now. I haven't had any warning signs like not firing on the first time, just the whine. Wow $400 for a fuel pump

My 2000 gmc whines louder than hell once in awhile but it's done it since it was new and it has 100,000 now and still does it.

I doubt it's going out at 54k. His symptoms were he would turn the key and it would turn over turn over turn over and just never fire up. Then he would let off the key and turn it again and it would fire right up. Don't exactly know why but it did that for probably a month before it died. About a week before it died it threw the SES I think it was #6 cylinder lean A/F ratio and a few others I think.

Thanks for the input. I was hoping it wasn't serious, but I'll keep a look out to see if those symptoms occur.
