intake and exhaust theoretically will improve mileage.... but the biggest mileage saver ever.... is to just drive easy... dont mash it at every stop light. but dont take 1/2 hour accelerating either.... just find the right spot where you can get up to speed but you are not floorin it.

yup CHEVRACER is right... intake and exhaust will theoretically help but with exhaust my truck sounds so good i cant keep my foot out of it like i could when it was stock. also you can get your PCM tuned and that will help quite a bit with mileage and power. you could do an electric fan swap, which frees up some power drained by the stock fan pulley and increases gas mileage as well. thats all im gonna do to mine until the 5.3 is worn out enough to be swapped for 6.0... and since my 5.3 only has 30k on it that will give me time to save and build a sweet 6.0.

Will I hope with the decrease fuel prices, I will be able to sell my 03 Ram QC. And buy a used 1/2 ton RC, short bed 4x4. Mods range from LS6 intake, headers, cai, full exhaust, Tune, electric fans, under drive pulleys, head work, cam, and maybe the TBSS stall. How does these mods sound like, and will the 6.0L get more or less the then the 5.3 with mods listed, if driven normal?
GM has done a fine job of giving people options, unlike ford and dodge.

Thanks.

I can pull 21.5 with about 95% highway driving (67mph) and the tailgate down. That's with the stock 16s. With 20s its like 20mpg....

As soon as I hit some city drivin it drops quick, but never below 15.5 even though I got diagnosed with lead-foot disorder

sorry to be nerd of group... but tailgate down actually lowers your fuel mileage.

they tested it on mythbusters. the tailgate up creates tumbling air that when moving the tumbling air keeps fast moving air flowing over it, and past tailgate..

if tailgate down air goes over cab, and drags all the way down the bed.

hope you guys understand that.

they even tested it on 2 exact same trucks.

Not on my truck it doesn't. This is my sixth semester to make the same 35 mile (one-way) drive to campus. I've tested this dozens upon dozens of times with the same result every single time...

hey brody, do you still have the black plastic spoiler piece that comes stock on our pick-ups on the tailgate? Cause I can see a person losing mileage if they take it off.
