Default Fuel level sending unit (already searched)

As stated in the title, I have searched the crap out of this topic.

It seems that this question has been asked alot with no final answers.
So I will ask again in hope that someone has come up with a solution.

I want to mount a fuel cell in place of the spare. I don't care about cutting the bed. Certain fuel cells come with a 90ohm sending unit. Can this be wired to the existing sending unit wires? If not is there anything that can be done to keep the functionality of the fuel level gauge? Also, Can HpTuners clear out any codes from disconnecting the vapor canister and all that crap?

I am going to attempt this install and do a full write up, but I need any input I can get before getting started.

Reasons I want to do this:
I want a return style fuel system so that I can run an Inline pump.
I don't want to drill a hole in the bottom of the stock tank and use a bulk head fitting. (I have seen this done and does not seem very safe to me)

Anyone???

I can't help w/ the sending unit issue but I can tell you that HPTuners can delete out any codes you want...it's pretty easy.
