Throttle bodies have a line of hot coolant that passes through it. It is an emissions control, and in extreme cold it can help stop the TB from icing over. The icing over would be almost impossible to achieve anywhere we would want to drive. Heating the TB heats the intake air charge, hot air is bad air. By bypassing the TB is worth about 1HP which you wont notice but you motor will be eating colder air and happier with you for having done it.
